I Was Hungry And You Fed Me
Everywhere we look, everywhere we walk, and, everywhere we navigate on the web we see people in need. In many cases we see people who do not have enough food to eat in their homes. In some situations, we encounter people who don’t have a home to sleep in. This is the case of the homeless people throughout the world with special attention the ones in the city I live in.
Salt Lake City is dominated by the mormons (LDS) which is supposed to be the largest growing religion in the world and yet there is a lot of poverty in this city. My family and I have suffered some hunger here in Salt Lake City and are very thankful for the food banks available on a limited basis in Utah. As a minister of GOD, I’ve counseled and preached many homeless men and women in this religious city where food is in abundant and money is available. Yet, the money and food available is not dedicated to radicate the poor of this state nor is it to minister some spiritual need to the inner being of one’s body. I know for a fact that if we (catholics, mormons, muslims, evangelicals and other groups) come together and make it a goal to get rid of poverty in our state we will succeed! But, where is the heart of man? Where is man’s love for their neighbor?
Since 2003 I’ve worked the streets of Salt Lake City preaching the gospel to the general public, ministering and helping the homeless, given away countless amount of money to those on the side of the road and have never seen a great mass of leaders or groups much less of churches helping their neighbor. My hope and prayer is that one day we (the whole country or the whole state) come together to fight poverty and get rid of it once and for all. Isn’t this what Joseph did in Egypt after he interpreted Pharoah’s dream of 7 years of poverty? With all the technology we have plus the power of the Holy Spirit of GOD, we can get rid of poverty!
